New Year, Same Me
I've got nothing. The well is empty, and the river is dry. January is almost done, and while I'm happy to see 2017, I'm also left thinking...like really? This is it? What now? What should I do?
I've seen bloggers, vloggers, Instagram models, and everyone in between give their New Year thought of reflection, their "insert inspirational quote about 2017" if you will. I can't relate. Last year was a rollercoaster of a blur, so at this point, I really don't know what to expect out of 2017. I didn't have any shocking revelations. I don't feel like I entered a higher plane of self-actualization. I feel the same damn way I always have. The same problems, the same fears, the same lessons-learned.
The only thing I can do is be honest with myself. And the honest truth is I just want to take one day at a time. I firmly do believe in pushing yourself outside of your normal level of comfort, and that self-improvement is important. However, I refuse to play myself by setting myself up to be this brand new, "new year, new me" person.
My message, however, does not mean to shun personal growth. Reach for the highest heights, and try to be happy where you're at because it’s a process. Strive to be the best version of yourself in 2017 and always.
Interestingly enough, I haven't seen the word "resolution" thrown around much this year. Well, I personally resolve to fight for my life in 2017. Fight for the goals I want to achieve, the milestones I want to pass, and the relationships I want to have.
Above all be happy, you've made it. Now, what are you going to do with it?
